Our Story

We fell in love with the Maine Coon breed when we got our first cat Owen many years ago, and after much research, we have decided to take on this new challenge with our small-scale, in-home cattery located in Calgary, Alberta. Married couple Pierre and Christal are animal lovers with experience in raising cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels, and chickens, and they actively participate in local wildlife rescue. Focusing on family and positive energy, our little cattery is dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized purebred cats, specifically quality Maine Coons that make wonderful companions.

Our cats are part of our family and roam freely in our home. The Maine Coon kittens will be supervised appropriately for their safety and will be exposed to many normal aspects of household life, such as children, dogs, and other cats. They will hear doorbells, vacuum cleaners, radios, and toasters, and will learn to climb stairs and use litter boxes. Outside the windows, they observe cars, lawn mowers, squirrels, and wild hares, while plenty of songbirds and magpies keep them entertained.

Currently, we have a big fluffy orange Maine Coon named Leopold, who is an absolute teddy bear! Leo isn’t part of our breeding program, but you’ll see him often in our photos—he’s involved in everything we do (in fact, as I build this website, Leopold is sitting on my lap, purring loudly and rubbing his face on me). Leopold and our Queen Luna get along well and are frequently seen cuddling and grooming each other. In the summer, we spend time in the backyard and take our pets camping in our RV. They are quickly adapting to the adventure lifestyle with backpacks and leash walks; Maine Coons generally tolerate leash and harness training well, and these two are becoming seasoned explorers. Whether we’re on the sofa, in the backyard, or traveling, they are always close by and are very much part of our family.

Our Queen

The star of the show!! Officially named Marwdmc Luna Lovegd of SilverLunaMC, she is simply "Luna" most days, and "Princess Luna" when the mood strikes. Her coat coloring is known as Black Silver Classic Torbie/White, but to us, she shines as beautifully as the silver moon in the night sky. With her stunning black "eyeliner," tiny black nose, and the fluffiest tail featuring a fox red tip, she truly is a strikingly beautiful cat. Luna is a year and a half old and has a very sweet, calm demeanor. We expect her to continue growing until she is 3 years old.

Her favorite game is playing with the fishing rod and hiding in the cat tunnel, from which she cleverly ambushes her humans.

and her King

Marwdmc Beryl is an absolutely gorgeous polydactyl male from the Alberta Maine Coons community. At approximately 2 years old, he is still growing! With his calm and friendly temperament, along with classic breed features, Beryl is a perfect match for Princess Luna. We can't wait to see the results from this stunning boy. Frequently Asked Questions

EVERYTHING!!

This breed is very loving and affectionate. They will follow you around the house from room to room. It is possible to train them to walk with a leash and harness, or ride in cat backpacks. This is easier to achieve if you start when they are very young as they just accept it as normal life, the more you expose them to, the more they will take it in stride. The same goes for car rides, boating, camping, swimming ...you name it I've seen it online.

Please see the page on TICA website there is a great description of this loveable breed and unique traits of Maine Coon cats.

No. This is genetically impossible. This myth has been debunked (not true) by genetic testing and biologists. It is most likely the breed are descendants from large breed fluffy European cats which came across on boats with the early settlers.

Kittens start at $2500 -$4000, depending on colouring and traits

Unfortunately, no.  The kittens are vulnerable to diseases before they have all of their vaccinations.  As an in-home hobby breeder, I am not open for casual visits, but we'll be posting photos and videos on my Facebook page.  Those who have paid a deposit and are waiting on a specific kitten can come for one-time visit - to meet their new family member.

Silver Luna MC Kittens' parents/ancestors are HCM/PKD tested by DNA, tested for Hip Dysplasia by X-Ray, and DNA full panel gene tested with Optimal Selection.

We accept Interac e-transfers. I DO NOT take credit cards.

A deposit will be collected at the time of reservation and the remainder of full payment will be due before pick up.

Unfortunately, no, I cannot guarantee everyone who pays a deposit will get a kitten. This is a natural process and I cannot control how many kittens are born in a litter. We are very small home based cattery I will not take more deposits than I think I can fulfill, however, if circumstances do not allow for every approved application to get a kitten, I will certainly refund the deposit.  Or you are welcome to carry over a deposit for the next litter.

We do NOT offer breeding rights.

We will include spay/neuter as a condition in the adoption contract, we work with a service called SpaySecure

Generally it is recommended to spay and neuter when kittens are 6-8 months of age.  The goal is to spay/neuter before the male kitten begins to spray urine and before the female kitten begins heat cycles. These behaviours are generally unpleasant for pet owners and can lead to unwanted behaviours later on if allowed to continue.

Maine coon cats require regular brushing, most of them love it!  You may also take the cat to a professional groomer, ideally one who specializes in cats. Some Maine Coons love the water and will accept bathing.

Yes it is necessary and it is very important to plan for this.

Your new kitten needs to be separated for several days when coming into a new home with other pets, in order to properly introduce and socialize. It can be very stressful for a young kitten and for existing pets in the home.  The new kitten needs to be kept is a small area until they are comfortable with the new sounds and smells in your home, and any other pets. Introduce them slowly and with full supervision.

You will have to go in several times a day to play with your kitten.

This ensures they will have a safe room if they feel stressed and will learn your routines and where the litter box is.

This introduction can take longer in some cases. Failure to do this can cause existing pets and your new kitten to feel stressed, which can result in aggression, peeing in the house and other unwanted behaviour problems.

Are you willing to take the time to introduce your kitten to your family and home properly?  Please consider this carefully.

No, I do not ship kittens.  This is a small scale cattery as mentioned,  I prefer to  meet the adoptive families in person.
